Who is the blame for your sins? Who is to blame for your
faults? Who is to blame for your poverty? Who is to blame for your handicap?
We tend to point the finger at others and God. Why?
We have more, but enjoy less. No matter how hard we
work or how much money we accumulate, on the whole we are not happier. Why is
that? Somewhere along the line we have entertained the notion that we are
entitled to more. Thoughts like this make us discontent.
Can contentment be learned? What prevents us from being thankful for what we have? Ultimately who is to blame when we are discontent? We will discuss these questions in this study.

Exodus
16:11–18; And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 12I have
heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At
even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and
ye shall know that I am the LORD your God. 13And it
came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the
morning the dew lay round about the host. 14And
when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there
lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. 15And
when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is
manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is
the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat. 16This is
the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to
his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your
persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents. 17And the
children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less. 18And
when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing
over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man
according to his eating.
2 Samuel 11:2–4; 2And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off
his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw
a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. 3And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one
said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah
the Hittite? 4And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto
him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she
returned unto her house.
Psalm
84:11, For the LORD God is a sun and
shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he
withhold from them that walk uprightly.
Psalm 145:15; The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat
in due season.
John 21:17–22; And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they
may be one, even as we are one:
2 Corinthians 12:10; Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in
necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am
weak, then am I strong.
Philippians 4:11–13; Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in
whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 12I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every
where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both
to abound and to suffer need. 13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
1Timothy 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
The Story of the blind man from birth
was healed by Jesus
St. John 9:1-9
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from
his birth. 2And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this
man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 3Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents:
but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. 4I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the
night cometh, when no man can work. 5As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. 6When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of
the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, 7And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by
interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
I Thessalonians 5:23
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God
your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ.
