Psalms 34:11-19
"Come,
ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord. What man
is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy
tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do
good; seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous,
and his ears are open unto their cry. The face of the Lord is against them that
do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry,
and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The Lord
is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite
spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him
out of them all."

The bible often connects the fear of the Lord (love and reverence for him) with
obedience. David said that a person who fears the Lord doesn't lie, turns from
sin, does good, and promotes peace. Reverence is much more than sitting quietly
in church. It includes obeying God in the way we speak and the way we treat
others. David encouraged others to trust and fear God, and to exemplify faith,
truth, obedience, and goodness in their lives. He feared God, and for the most
part he chose the way of goodness and peace. David even treated some of his
worst enemies with kindness. Somehow we think that peace should come to us with
no effort. But David explained that we are to seek and pursue peace. Paul
echoed this thought.......
Romans
12:18
"If
it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men."
**We
often wish we could escape troubles-the pain of grief, loss, sorrow, and
failure; or even the small daily frustrations that constantly wear us down. God
promises to be our source of power, courage, and wisdom, helping us through our
problems. Sometimes he chooses to deliver us from those problems. When trouble
strikes, don't get frustrated with God. Instead, humbly admit that you need
God's help and thank him for being by your side. **
Proverbs 4:20-23
"My
son, attend to my words; incline unto my sayings. Let them not depart from
thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those
that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all
diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. "
**Our
heart---our feelings of love and desire---dictates to a great extent how we
live, because we always find time to do what we enjoy. Solomon tells us to keep
our heart with all diligence, making sure we concentrate on those desires that
will keep us on the right path. Look straight ahead, keep your eyes fixed on
your goal, and don't get sidetracked on detours that lead to temptation. **
3 John 1:2
"Beloved,
I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy
soul prospereth."
**Truly,
all of these promises are great faith builders. As wonderful as these are, they
are only a few of the many promises that God has given us. We serve a great and
mighty and loving Heavenly Father. **
"1John
5:14-15
"And
this is the confidence that we have in him, that , if we ask any thing
according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he heareth us,
whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of
him."
**The
emphasis here is on God's will, not our will. When we communicate with God, we
don't demand what we want; rather we discuss with him what he wants for us. If
we align our prayers to his will, he will listen; and we can be certain that if
he listens, he will give us a definite answer. Start praying with confidence.
