II Peter 1:10
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give
diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye
shall never fall:
Peter wants
to rouse the complacent believers who have listened to the false teachers and
believe that because salvation is not based on good works they can live as they
want. If you truly belong to the Lord, he says, your hard work
(diligence") will prove it. If you're not working for God, maybe you don't
belong to him. If you are the Lord's and your hard work backs up your claim you
will never be led astray by false teaching or glamorous sin.
II Timothy
4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after
their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
The Lord
will choose those that are willing to product fruits that will be useful to
bring more servants to fill his vineyard of faithful believers.

Corinthians 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men
after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
The Lord is
looking at your heart Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your
heart be also.
Ephesians
1:18 I ask that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know
the hope of His calling, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints,
In the day
when the Lord was looking for a leader for the people of Israel he was not
focusing on the outside of the person, but at the heart.
1 Samuel
16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the
height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth
not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD
looketh on the heart.
As we live
in this world we are servants in the flesh to labor with our hands on our jobs,
but not to please man with the cares of the world and erase our true propose and
reason in serving the Lord, make our calling sure.
Colossians
3:22,23 Servants, obey in all things your masters
according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness
of heart, fearing God: 23 And whatsoever
ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Matthew
22:14 For many are
called, but few are chosen.
I Corinthian
15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always
abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not
in vain in the Lord.
If we are consistent
in the work of the Lord we become unmovable in our faith with Christ, Jesus,
and always feeling comfortable with our labor in the Lord.
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own
understanding.
If you love the Lord with all your heart you
will not let your labor in the Lord go dry.
Romans 8:35 Who
shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or
distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Remember,
when you labor for the Lord you are not wasting your time, but earning your
wages for the glory of God.
